Gabriela Renee (Williams) is an artist and arts worker based in Melbourne (Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country) originally from Canberra (Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country), who threads connection through every aspect of her practice.

She thrives on cultivating meaningful relationships within artistic communities, driven by spaces that nurture artists and operate as sites of care, exchange and shared growth. Her practice engages with themes of identity, diaspora, and cultural disconnection, shaped by her Sinhalese, Malayali, Telugu, English, Shetlander, German, and Irish heritage as well as her Australian/Malaysian culture.

Working across a multidisciplinary visual art practice, Renee explores mixed identity and diasporic dissonance through the reimagining of archival imagery and objects. Her work reflects on memory, inheritance, and the spaces in between, interrogating the complexities of hybrid identities and diasporic communities while questioning the cultural significance of the document and the role of memory in shaping belonging.

As an active member of the arts community, Renee holds a position as Gallery Coordinator at West Space, Gallery Attendant at Incinerator and serves as a board member at TCB Gallery.
